Fried Kimchi Dumplings
Dumpling Soup
Prior to today, I made kimchi dumplings and I was keeping them in the freezer. Today, I am going to make two kinds of dishes with some of those frozen dumplings. The first is fried dumplings, and the other is dumpling soup. Enjoy! 😉

Hi Aeri, would love to see instructions on how to make mandoo fillings. I still remember sitting around the table and helping my grandmother make it when I was a kid. That was really fun.
Aeri says
Hi, cruiser
Yes.. on my youtube channel..there is a video to show you how to make mandoo fillings …
here is the link for it.

but someday..If I make mandoo again.. I will take some pictures and post the recipe again. thanks 🙂

Thanks for the video, you made it really easy to follow. Although I’ve enjoyed cutting the wraps from flours with rice bowls as a kid for my grandmother, I think getting the prepackaged wraps is less messy. Maybe we’ll make it on Sunday while watching 패밀리가 떴다.
Aeri says
Hi, cruiser
You are very welcome ~~~ 🙂
wow.. so you are a Korean ??
make dumplings with family while watching 패밀리가 떴다 sounds very very good.. thanks ~~~
cruiser says
Yeah a Korean who doesn’t know much about cooking Korean food. So I gotta depend on good folks like you. Thanks, gave this recipe a try a few days ago, and it came out great. We made some for soup and fried the rest.
Aeri says
Hi, cruiser

Can I used ground chicken or will it change the flavor drastically? I am out of kimchi. Can I use some blanched napa cabbage instead?
Aeri says
Hi, Zee
I’ve never used chicken for dumpling before.. so I can’t tell about the result with confidence.. Yes.. you can use napa cabbage instead..that’s what we use for normal dumplings in Korea … thanks..

Aeri,
Love your website, made dalkgalbi for the parents and they loved it. Quick question. Can you post a recipe for making kimchi mandoo from scratch?
Adam

Hi aeri,
Im back with more school questions. Im thinking of doing mandoo for my project, i was just wondering how long these recipes take to prepare, especially the mandoo soup.
Thanks 🙂
Aeri Lee says
hi Chi,
dumpling takes time to make… and it’s hard to tell how long it will take because I made it alone..and I don’t know how many people you will work together to make it.. you will make mando from the beginning.. ?? or only make the soup with already made mandoo ?? It took about 2-3 hours to make the mando0 from the beginning.. and the mandoo soup took about 20 minutes..

Spent 2 years working as expat in Ulsan… Loved the boiled mandu…. Had it wherever available. For some reason all contents tasted great.
I would like to replicate the dipping sauce and since I am in Texas how can I put a Texas twist on it but still respect the Korean recipe
Aeri Lee says
hi Steve Ingels,
Nice to meet you. You had a good time in Korea..^^
Oh.. that sounds interesting.. if you get good dipping sauce.. please share with us.. hehe thanks

Hi Aeri!!My name is Carmen and I’m from Mexico!I would like to know if there is another kind of soup to accompany the dumplings. Or that extra ingredient I can add you to this recipe. Thaks. 😛 😀 😳
Aliana says
Hi Aeri! Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have 2 questions I hope you can solve my curiosity 🙂
1) I can eat beef but just wondering if I can substitute beef to chicken?
2) Can I leave the kimchi part out? Means that this whole meaning of recipe wouldn’t be a ‘kimchi dumpling’ but ‘beef/chicken’ dumpling instead. >.< I live far from the city and so far I haven't see any kimchi sold in the store near my living area. 🙁
Thank you so much! ^^
Aeri Lee says
hi Aliana,
Yes, you can use other meat like.. pork, chicken, even shrimp instead. You can just make normal dumpling without kimchi. Thanks ^^
Janetta says
Hi Aeri! I’m really interested in making the 만두국, however when I try to play the video it says that it is unavailable. Is it possible to get the written instructions, or a link to the video?
Thanks!
Aeri Lee says
hi Janetta,
I’m sorry for inconvenience you had with the video. The video was recorded long time ago, so the quality of the video was too poor. I also had some copyright issue for the background music I used.. that’s why I had to make it private and you couldn’t watch it. Since my post for the dumpling soup doesn’t have any written instruction, I will change the video to public again. So you can watch…. later I might have to change it back to private again.. so please watch it and learn how to make dumping soup.. THanks 🙂
Janetta says
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
