Taco Salad

Taco salad is a favorite food of mine that I learned to make from my mother in law. Homemade tortillas, taco seasoned beef, beans, lettuce, onions, cheese, and the french salad dressing. Oh, the combination of those flavors is awesome. @.@ Yesterday, we ate this for supper, and it was very delicious, as always. I guessed somebody might want the recipe for this food, so I post pictures with recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Ground Beef
  • ½ Iceberg Lettuce
  • ¼ Red Onion
  • 1 Can Refried Pinto Beans or Kidney Beans
  • 1 Tbsp Taco Seasoning (2 Tbsp Water)
  • 1 Tomato
  • Hot Sauce to Taste

Dough Ingredients:

  • 1½ Cup Flour
  • ½ Cup Water
  • 3 tsp Olive Oil
  • ⅛ tsp Salt

Yield: About 2 or 3 Servings

In a bowl, combine 1½ cup of flour, 3 tsp of olive oil, ⅛ tsp of salt, and ½ cup of water. Mix the ingredients with a fork.

taco_salad_03-
Then knee the dough for at least 5 minutes.

taco_salad_04-
Wrap the dough with plastic wrap and then put it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

taco_salad_05-
Chop ½ of a head of iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

taco_salad_06-
Cube ¼ of an onion.

taco_salad_07-
Divide the dough into 4 or 6 pieces. Cover the dough pieces with plastic wrap so they will not dry out.

taco_salad_08-
Roll out the dough thinly.

taco_salad_09-Fry it on slightly oiled pan, until both sides become golden brown.

taco_salad_10-
In a pan, add 1 cup of ground beef. Fry the beef, until it becomes brown, and then add 1 Tbsp of taco seasoning.

taco_salad_11-
Add 2 Tbsp of water and cook until the beef is completely cooked.

taco_salad_12-
Cook 1 can of re-fried beans for several minutes until they become warm.

taco_salad_13-
Put 2 or 3 sheets of tortillas on a plate. You can break them apart for easier eating.

taco_salad_14-
Add some beans and cooked beef on top.

taco_salad_15-
Sprinkle on some shredded taco cheese.

taco_salad_16-
Add lettuce, onions, and diced tomatoes on top. Tomatoes were not in season, so I skipped them.

taco_salad_17-
Finally, add the french dressing and hot sauce if you like.

Taco Salad
Enjoy!

can i come live with you?!? hehe

this looks really good! i am going to try to make the fresh tortillas since i always buy mine.

my kids like it when i make quesadilla. you take 2 tortiallas (taco shells). put one in a pan put taco cheese, grilled chicken, and green onions and put the other tortilla on top. cook both sides till the cheese is melted inside. when its done – slice and eat. i use taco sauce to dip. :) YUMMY!
