This fried spicy garlic and beef side dish is a unique way to eat garlic and meat together. The combination together is great. My husband tried it for the first time and he loved it. 🙂 You can eat this as a side dish but you can also use it for lettuce wrapping with rice. To do that, simply top a leaf of lettuce with some rice and a little meat. Then wrap and eat it. Delicious~~~ 🙂 Try this simple but very tasty food someday.
Yield: 1 Cup
Short Korean Lesson
- GongJu (공주) = Princess
- WangJa (왕자) = Prince
- 1 Cup Ground Beef
- 1 Garlic Bulb (About 10-12 Garlic Cloves)
- ½ Cup Red Pepper Paste
- 1-2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Wine or Water
- 1 tsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Vinegar
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1 Pinch Black Pepper
Chop 1 garlic bulb into small chunks. You will get about a ⅓ generous cup of garlic.
Prepare 1 cup of ground beef. You can also use ground pork, chicken, or turkey.
Brown the meat with 1 pinch each of salt and black pepper. Once the meat has browned, add the garlic. Fry it for 3 minutes on high.
After 3 minutes, add ½ cup of red pepper paste, 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil, 2 Tbsp of cooking wine or water, 1 tsp of sugar, and ¼ tsp of vinegar. Fry for about 10 minutes on medium, occasionally stirring.
Keep it in the refrigerator and serve it cool. You can eat this dish for a week; so it can be a good daily side dish like kimchi for a week if you eat Korean food often. 🙂 Thanks.
