Today, I will make bibimbap. To be honest, I feel like bibimbap is a difficult Korean food to make since it needs a lot of ingredients. However because it is so delicious, it will have you comming back for more again. Plus, it is very healthy. ;) Bibim means ‘mixing’ and Bap means ‘rice’ in Korean. So, you mix rice, various fried vegetables, raw vegetables, meat, egg, dried seaweed, and a special sauce. If you are a vegetarian, you can substitute the beef with mushrooms you like.

Today, I will make a popular Korean noodle dish, Jjol-myeon(쫄면). The letter “Jjol (쫄)” came from the first letter of the Korean word “쫄깃 쫄깃한”, which means very chewy and elastic. The letter “myeon(면)” means noodle in Korean. If you are familiar with names for Korean food, you will remember “myeon” from jja-jang-myeon, ra-men, or nang-myeon. ;) So, jjol-myeon is very chewy noodle with a sweet, sour and spicy sauce and some fresh vegetables. If you don’t like hard boiled egg, you can skip it. Enjoy!!! :D

Beef kimbap (쇠고기 김밥) is a type of Korean kimbap. I use the same recipe to marinate the beef for this beef kimbap as the beef for the Korean stuffed peppers. (I’ve already posted it sometime ago.) Green, orange, yellow, black, white, brown … the color combination from the ingredients are very good. Of course, the taste is even better.

This time I will show you how to make one very popular Korean dish, kimbap. Koreans love kimbap, so when we go on a picnic, we bring kimbap. There are many kinds of kimbap in Korea, such as kimchi kimbap, cheese kimbap, tuna kimbap, beef kimbap, nude kimbap, sesame leaves kimbap, and so on. Among them, I will make a very common kimbap today. It will have 5 things in it: cucumbers, pickled radishes, ham, crab sticks, and eggs. My secret for kimbap is that all of the ingredients have same size, because that will help make the kimbap look more delicious and taste better.

JaJangMyun (자장면) is the most popular Korean style chinese food in Korea. This is made of mainly black bean paste, meat, and different kinds of vegetables. In Korea, you can easily order JaJangMyun (Black bean paste noodles) from the Chinese restaurants. Then they will deliver the food to your house only for 3 or 4 dollars without any tipping. Typically, Korean style chinese restaurants serve JaJangMyun with Yellow Pickled Radish (DanMuJi), radish kimchi (KkakDooGi), and raw onion with black bean paste which you will use to make this recipe. Dip the onion into the black bean paste when you eat JaJangMyun. Garnish with cucumber or peas. Cucumber tastes especially good with this JaJangMyun.
