    Hi Aeri.

I’m Korean myself, and I live in the United States. My mom is busy all the time, and my dad is in Korea, so I rarely get to eat Korean food, despite loving it so much. I subscribed to your youtube channel after seeing many of your recipes. Thank you so much! How did you get so good at cooking?

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Helen Kwak,
Nice to meet you. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Now you can try Korean food at home by yourself..right ?? hehe I’m interested in cooking and wanted to make delicious food for my husband.. that helped to improve my cooking. :D

  2. Kimbul

I have been looking for a recipe for fried peppers. These I believe are dried first then coated with flour and a little sugar then fired they are very crunchy. My mother-in-law made it once and I cannot remember how to now. Do you happen to know what I am talking about?

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Kimbul,
it’s more for snack ??? I can guess something..but not sure if it’s right.. you said.. it’s sweet but it’s hot pepper ??

  3. Christina

Hello, I have lived in Korea for 2 years and like it very much. But I am sad to see how many korean people do not like their culture and want to come to America. Korean is a very high, peaceful culture. It is also sad to see how foolish, desperate and materialistic koreans have become in the name of Christianity. It is foolish to leave the higher religion of Buddhism . It will cause many problems for your country in the future. Christianity as it is praticed now is foolishness. It will destroy your 5000 year old culture. Remember that Christians first come with bibles then with guns.

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Christina,
Nice to meet you. As a Korean, I love my country and our culture. Not everyone is perfect.. so there will be some parts that are not good about Korea..but I still love to be a Korean… same as I’m a Christian. Thanks for your good opinion. :D
Hope to see you again here..
      Have a great week ~~

  4. Nanja

    Hi Aeri,

Greatings from the Netherlands. I recently came across your you tube video’s and I subscribed inmediatly. My english is a little poor, so I hope you understand what I’m trying to say :) .
I was born in Korea, but adopted so I never learned how to cook Korean food. Still, it must be my gens because I really love Korean food and I can really crave for kimchi.
Thank you for you patient way of showing how to cook. It tastes really authentic, the way I have eaten Korean food with Korean friends.
I will follow your cooking closely and hope that some day you will make Kalbi tang.
    Thank you Aeri, bye!
    Nanja

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Nanja,
      Nice to meet you.
Oh.. don’t worry about your English. I’m learning English too.. hehe
So when did you try Korean food for the first time?
yes I will make galbi tang for you someday.. maybe once the weather becomes cold.. ;) thanks
Hope to see you more often.

  5. jpan24

I love Korean style food. But i’m Chinese, and i don’t know much of how to prepare Korean cuisine. After watching a few of your video, it helped me how to make the special sauces for many dishes. Thanks for many of your video, and keep up with the good work ^_^

    • Aeri Lee

  6. Meia

    Hi Aeri,
I made SoGalbi today and kimbal. For the kimbap I used cucumber and smoked salmon. I had to buy the sushi kit and I was a little nervous on rolling my kimbap. Well you be the judge at least with the looks of what I made today… please see them on my facebook, I posted them….
Hey, that is sooo cool how you knew Kimchi restaurant. I can’t wait to eat there again, I lawys get dolsot bibimbap.

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Meia,
I saw your kimbap..and sogalbi.. good job.. ^^ yep.. you rolled it just right.. hehe how was your sogalbi ?? I hope you liked it.
Yep.. I ate there sometimes.. :D

      • Meia

yeah the sogalbi was good…the cooking part is quick…you really have to plan on this ahead of time if you want to have this for dinner because of the marinating process. My husband lived in Songtan City and Osan City in Korea and he said he loves the street food. He just knows the food itself when he sees them but he doesnt really know thier names. Are you familiar with these street foods by any chance???

        • Aeri Lee

          hi Meia,
That’s great !!! Thanks for good result..hehe about your question..there are many kinds of street food in Korea.. can you describe more detailed about particular street food he is hungry for ??

          • Meia

Well there is one that is orange and I thought it was a sticky rice coated with spicy stuff. There is also one he said it sounded like padogi (not sure of spelling), and another one called yakimandu. Oh well, see if you recognize any of this… otherwise, I wonder if you could post any street food???

  7. Jessica

      Hi Jessica,

Hi Aeri, It is nice to meet you. Thank you for your website. I am looking forward to trying some of your recipes. I have a question about soy sauce and soup soy sauce. Can you tell me what is the difference between the two? Thanks, Aeri, and have a nice day!!

  11. Paul Kim

    Hi Aeri!
My wife had tried a number of different ttukbokki recipes from cook books but they were not very good at all. One day I was browsing through Youtube and I came across your ttukbokki video. So after watching your detailed instructional video, I made it for my wife on Mother’s Day. Your ttukbokki tasted like Korean pojangmahcha style I used to remember. My wife loved it and was very appreciative of my effort!!! Thanks to you, I got a big brownie point from my wife :) I also tried your yukgaejang recipe for my dinner guests a few days ago and I got a lot of positive compliments. I find your video and written instruction very clear and detail. I have booked marked your website as one of my favorite websites and I will definitely try your other recipes as well. Keep up the good work and many thanks!

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Paul Kim,
Nice to meet you. I think you are a Korean too..right ?? hehe.. wow your message was very special for me. Thanks for your review about my recipes. :D I’m very happy you and your wife enjoyed them. haha.. brownie point.. that’s cute ^^
Thanks .. hope to hear from you more in the future.

  12. Meia Warmath

Hi Aeri, my husband and I are a big fan of yours. We love Korean Food. Today, I just watched your video on cucumber kimchi. Can this be done with thinly sliced cucumber? Crosswise not lenghtwise. Let me know. Thanks.

    • Aeri Lee

      hi Meia Warmath,
Nice to meet you. Oh..cucumber kimchi.. why you want to cut it with thinly sliced cucumber ?? my answer is.. I recommend you try the way I cut..because it’s kimchi.. so there is process.. you soak them in salt water.. and later.. ferment.. so if it’s thin sliced cucumber.. the texture will be not right..and can be too salty too.. we usually slice the cucumber for side-dishes.. just mix them with some seasonings and eat right away.. you know cucumber becomes yuk ( the taste and texture) when time goes..
Say hi to your husband too. :D thanks

      • Meia Warmath

Thanks Aeri… I will try to make this recipe one of these days…hopefully just like the way you did. I want to surprise my husband. He got me into liking Korean Food. There is a Korean restaurant in State College PA called kimchi restaurant and we get to eat there every few months and it is just disappointing that there is none close to where we live. So I want to try to learn to cook Korean food. By the way your baby is adorable on Facebook. When I make the cucumber kimchi I will take a picture of it and post it and see if it comes close to what you made lol.

        • Aeri Lee

          hi Meia Warmath,
wow.. i just looked at your son’s pictures on facebook. He is very cute. :D and you are beautiful too.. hehe BTW where do you live in ??? :)

          • Meia

We are in Altoona Pennsylvania. Next Saturday night will be our Korean dinner night. So I am still thinking of what to make. I was thinking of making Galbi. Any other suggestions for meat recipes? By the way, thanks…yeah my son’s name is Josh he is our precious little stinker.

          • Aeri Lee

            hi Meia,
aha… Altoona.. ^^ I’ve been studied at Penn state for my English for about a year before.. So I know kimchi restaurant.. It was very interesting to read your message. :D I think .. galbi will be good.. if you like spicy food.. you can have spicy fried pork too.. yep.. he is cute ^^

I came across Korean food when I visited the US and had been looking for some place to eat aside from the usual Burgers and Steaks. I loved the Korean Barbecue with the kimchi at the sides. I will always devour it anytime I have the chance.

    • Aeri Lee

      hi lawsuit loans,
Nice to meet you. I hope you can try more delicious Korean food in the future. thanks :D

  15. Kimie and Emery

    Hi Aeri,
Emery and I are huge fans of your website. He showed me some of your videos, and told me later that he had found you on facebook. I am half Korean, and so he is really excited to learn all he can about Korean cooking. He checks out your videos at least three times a week, and since he’s a professional chef that is pretty cool. There are a few blogs that we read often, which pushed us to start our own. We would love it if you would check us out too.

I hope you will keep teaching us, and everyone else how to cook Korean style. :)

    Thanks ~ Kimie & Emery

P.S. I love those Korean couple magnets for the fridge. We missed the posting for the contest, so we weren’t able to try to win them. Is there anywhere here in the US I can order them from? :)

    • Aeri Lee

      Hi Kimie and Emery,
Happy to see you here again..hehe !!!
I really enjoyed reading your comment.. very interesting.. thanks ;D

p.s oh.. sorry.. I don’t know if they sell them in the US… maybe I will do that contest again someday in the future.. how about that? ;) hehe

      • Kimie and Emery

        Hi Aeri,
Sorry, it’s taken so long for me to write back. Emery and I searched for our comment to see if you had written back, but lost it. I’m so excited to see your message.
Yes, we are both huge fans of yours. He loves your videos so much he showed my mom our last visit. :) She said everything looked good, and is how she prepares things too. Anyway, I’ll keep an eye out for the cute couple magnets, maybe one day I’ll see them on here again? Thanks for writing back, and for checking out our site.
        Take care,
        Kimie
